Pathways to Pre-K

To support the launch and enrollment of the new Pre-K program at Long Island School for the Gifted, I was selected to pilot a 5-week initiative designed to showcase the power of early childhood learning within our school community. The goal of the pilot was twofold: to create a trial experience for potential incoming students and to generate excitement and visibility for the official Pre-K program debuting the following fall.

I designed and led the program around three high-interest themes—Dinosaurs, Oceans, and Winter Wonderland—using a center-based, play-driven approach that emphasized language development, fine/gross motor skills, early math and literacy, art, and science. Each week, students engaged in hands-on projects, sensory exploration, collaborative storytelling, and open-ended play aligned to the theme, giving families a glimpse into the rich, developmentally appropriate learning they could expect from our future Pre-K program.

This pilot not only supported outreach and admissions, but also laid the groundwork for a joyful, child-centered culture in our early learning environment.
